Botargas y Mascaritas in Almiruete (Guadalajara)

Revelers take part in “Botargas y Mascaritas” Festival in Almiruete (Guadalajara), Spain on February 1, 2014. Botargas are male characters dressed in white attire and adorned with colorful masks and heavy bells, represent shepherds that come down from mountains to meet Mascaritas. The latter are female characters that accompany Botargas throughout the village, throwing around flying fluffy seeds that represent fertility.
